Because they are lightweight, when EPS is used as insulation and packaging material, it does not release a lot of heat to support combustion in a fire.
The ignition performance of EPS foam (except for the properties of the material itself) also depends on many factors, including geometric properties, surface area, approximation to other articles, fire source, composite structure, nature and energy of fire source, time of facing fire sources, heat treatment and ventilation.

Although it may be ignited when exposed to the flame for a long time, the flame spreads to the whole surface very slowly. When the external flame moves away, the EPS foam will not continue to burn and will not leave any afterglow. This indicates that the EPS foam will not burn completely unless it is directly affected by other more flammable substances.
